Dr. Andrew Lemchen’s path to orthodontics began with a strong interest in problem-solving and hands-on clinical care. After exploring different academic directions during his undergraduate years at Lehigh University, he found his way into healthcare through emergency medicine, working as an EMT in New York City. That experience shaped his ability to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and focus on patient needs in real time—skills that continue to define his approach today.

He went on to earn his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he also completed his orthodontic residency. His training emphasized both clinical precision and comprehensive diagnosis, preparing him to evaluate each case from multiple angles rather than relying on standardized solutions. Dr. Lemchen is a board-certified orthodontist and an active member of the Weill Cornell Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Team, where he contributes to complex, interdisciplinary cases that require a deeper level of planning and collaboration.

At Lemchen Salzer Orthodontics, his philosophy centers on clarity and shared understanding. He believes orthodontic treatment should never feel confusing or rushed. Every patient receives a clearly defined plan, broken down step by step, so they always understand where they are in the process and what comes next. He takes time to present all viable options—along with the pros and cons of each—so patients and parents can make fully informed decisions with confidence.

Outside the practice, Dr. Lemchen enjoys spending time with his wife, Carly, and their two children, Liara and Bodie. He is also an avid problem-solver in his personal life, with interests that include puzzles, board games, 3D printing, and rebuilding motorcycles. A former EMT of nearly a decade, he continues to bring that same discipline, focus, and care into every patient interaction.
