Dr. Salzer Explains Why Custom Made Retainers Matter

In this video, Dr. Jennifer Salzer explains how she treated 7-year-old twins whose mouths were very crowded and whose permanent teeth would not resorb the baby teeth because the permanent teeth were all jumbled up.

We built a custom-made retainer to help grow the 7-year-olds mouths early. These retainers are not one size fits all. They are custom made for each individual patient.

Thanks to this retainer we were able to expand the mouth in both directions, front to back, and side to side.

This allowed us to widen and expand the jaw, and eventually to create room so the teeth could grow in properly.
